Civil War Encampment

October 18, 2008: Civil War Encampment

A group of Civil War enthusiasts and their families, dress in period costumes and spent the weekend camping at Wolcott Mills Metro Park. The public was invited to attend and I used my trusty camera to capture some of the events.

Cruise the Caribbean on Carnival's Dream

July, 1-13, 2010: Cruise the Caribbean on Carnival's 'Dream'

The first half of July, my wife and I spent visiting our son in Florida and then taking a cruise on Carnival's 'Dream'. This ship, 130,000 tons, is over 1,000 feet long, 12 stories high and every inch a beauty.

If you have never been on a cruise, think of it as being in a five-star floating hotel. The food is excellent and plentiful. Entertainment abounds. The friendly staff cannot seem to do enough for you. Rocked asleep by the gentle motion of the waves, you awake to new adventures as well as visit new, exotic ports. What’s not to like?

Wondering what you'd see and do a cruise or if you've never been to Port Canaveral, Nassau, St. Thomas, St. Maarten/St. Martin, you might like to see these photos.

Chicago!

July 20-23, 2010: Enjoy a Visit to Chicago!

What do you do to follow up a cruise? How about hopping an Amtrack train and traversing the 285 miles from Royal Oak, Michigan to Chicago. Our hotel was about a block off Michigan Avenue and a short walk to Grant Park, the Art Museum, the Schedd Aquarium, the Adler Planetarium the Field Museum of Natural History and the Art Institute.
